Kevin Clifton: Worried Strictly star issues plea after BBC exit ‘Really need your help’

Former Strictly Come Dancing professional, Kevin Clifton, 37, has reached out online to express his concerns over theatres being unable to open once the coronavirus lockdown eases next month. The BBC favourite is seemingly hoping to return to theatre after deciding to quit the show in February after his seven years as one of the pros.

It comes after one Twitter user announced last night: “Britain needs a break. Pleased that we can get tourism in England going from 4th July.”

They went on to state that hotels, B&Bs, campsites and caravan parks are set to open in July, meaning UK families can go on holiday this summer.

However, Kevin, who has performed in West End productions before joining Strictly in 2013, told his 250,000 Twitter followers how the theatre industry needs more help.

The dancer shared the Twitter user’s post onto his followers and penned yesterday: “Holidays are nice but please can I still have a theatre career to come back to?

“We really need your help.”

Once Kevin expressed his thoughts and concerns on the matter, many waded in to support the TV star’s statement.

One person replied to the dancing champion: “Well said, let’s be honest many of us like to go to the theatre on holiday – and not just for a drink.

“It’s heartbreaking for all of you who work in the theatre, but your audiences need you back as well, theatre trips help to keep us sane.”

It comes after the Government announced there will be social distancing changes from July 4, yesterday.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson informed the public to keep a distance of “one metre plus” where it is not possible to stay two metres apart.

Elsewhere, Kevin, who won Strictly alongside now-girlfriend Stacey Dooley, 33, in 2018, is believed to be ready to propose to the documentary film-maker.

A source told Heat magazine: “Yes, Kevin has been married three times before, but he really feels that Stacey is the right person for him and this time will be different.
