BBC Breakfast weather star Carol Kirkwood, 57, and Matt Taylor, 44, are regular forecasters on the news programme. The Scottish-native took to Twitter this week to share a birthday message with her colleague but suffered a huge blunder.
Carol took to the micro-blogging site where she sent birthday wishes to her friend Matt.
But the weather forecaster accidentally aged her pal by nearly 20 years.
In view of her 183,000 followers, Carol gushed: “Happy birthday to my lovely, funny, cheeky friend @MetMattTaylor who is 64 today.”
She finished off the post with a birthday cake and kiss-faced emoji.
In a follow-up tweet, Carol acknowledged her mistake and admitted it was a typo.
She wrote: “Oops! @MetMattTaylor typo! Sorry!”
Fortunately, Matt saw the humorous side to his pal’s error as he retweeted Carol’s birthday message.
“And you call me the cheeky one @carolkirkwood.Thank you lovely lady,” he penned.
Elsewhere, Carol was shocked to forecast sleet and snow will be hitting some parts of the UK this weekend after record-breaking high temperatures in the past two weeks.
She said temperatures are set to plummet by almost 15C this weekend.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Carol explained: “It’s worth mentioning that on Friday night and into Saturday morning what we are looking at is the risk of some sleet and snow above 700 metres in the hills of northern Scotland.
“Can you believe that? Only last Friday we had the highest temperature of the year so far!”
Carol recently returned to BBC Breakfast after suffering from an accident when she was “knocked off her bike by a car”.
The star confirmed her comeback to the show last month on Twitter, revealing: “Been off following an accident. Got knocked off my bike by a car and got injured.
“Biggest thanks ever to the Police (Chris and Faye), the Ambulance Crew (Miranda and Stewart) who tended to me and took me to Hospital.
“And especially Peter Foskett-Tharby at Wexham Park Hospital,” alongside a red heart emoji.
BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
